My Tunes & Out There Project
Actiontrack Recording Studio & across Somerset

My Tunes

Part of Actiontrack’s regular delivery, MyTunes is exciting new music-making in and alongside Pupil Referral Units and other agencies of Alternative Provision with vulnerable young people at risk.

This work has been delivered in partnership with Take Art  and is made possible through funding from Youth Music, the PRU sector and Somerset’s Music Education Hub, Sound Foundation Somerset

Work takes place in centres across the county and in Actiontrack’s recording studio and ranging from instrumental tuition, through group playing to song-writing, recording and even instrument making.

The response from participants, carers and staff to this work has included feedback such as:

“I’ve never seen him so interested in anything as this”
“We get more work out of her after a session with you than during the rest of the week”
“This is cool - proper - when can we come back?”

As a development of the MyTunes work Actiontrack and Take Art are currently delivering their ‘OutThere’ project.

This project, supported by Youth Music and the music hub uses similar delivery methodology but is focussed on provision for the NEET sector (Not in Education Employment or Training).

As part of ‘OutThere’, Actiontrack is developing remote learning packages as part of NYMAZ’s national research programme ‘ Connect: Resound’ that looks at music delivery using digital means for practical music provision for those isolated as a result of geography and/or issues concerning mental health.
